As many of you know, I have started climbing (it’s really more like walking up) Stone Mountain (weather and schedule permitting) every Saturday morning.  I invite others to join me and tackle the mountain with me.  Very few have taken me up on the offer thus far, but of those who have, some for the first time ever or at least in 15+ years, I believe all have enjoyed starting their Saturday off with a sense of accomplishment and a feeling of satisfaction.

All of the first timers and those who have not climbed the mountain in many years are surprised when they are winded after the first 100 or so feet.  I have found myself explaining the stress and strain of the incline on the body and how the incline is contributing to an increase in caloric burn and a more taxing cardio workout.

I am open to taking as many breaks and moving as slowly as my guests need, so long as they are dedicated to getting to the top no matter what.  This past Saturday, Karen Smith tackled and conquered Stone Mountain.

I am so proud of her!!!  She took breaks and we took it slow, but she said that, no matter what, she was doing it and SHE DID!!  I believe that she can accomplish anything that she sets her mind to.  She has shown me her determination and it is all downhill from here!

Kids love walking up Stone Mountain!  My son has joined me twice and several other children have joined us, too.
