Well, my world is in a constant flux.  Just when I think that things are beginning to settle down, something else happens and there we go again- more change!

My husband was notified Tuesday night at 11 p.m. that he was being laid-off from his job of 11 years as of the end of the month.  Having just been through that a year and a half ago, when he told me over the phone that he had received his 30 day notice, my stomach dropped and the panic of my world crashing down and us becoming immediately homeless began swirling around my head.  However, having just been through this myself and seeing that, while being laid-off for 6 months completely wrecked our financial world, we were able to get through it and did not become homeless,  the feeling of impending doom quickly vanished.

Within a minute of receiving the news, I had begun to devise a plan in my head on how to handle the myriad of issues that come along with being laid-off, like loss of medical insurance.  I had also already flashed to a potentially very positive situation….if my husband is not able to find a job quickly, he will be able to spend the Christmas holidays with my son and I, without having to cut the day short and head to work like he has for the last 6+ years.  While Christmas will be solely about Jesus’s Birthday in our house, as it should be, and there will be no presents (since we will not be able to afford them), just getting to spend the week together will be more than enough for a wonderful Christmas!

It would have been VERY easy to get bogged down in the seemingly all negative situation.  However, I learned through my lay-off, in June 2010, that all things happen for a reason and according to God’s plan. I also learned that the power of prayer is AMAZING and a new, better opportunity will be around the corner.  While we don’t know how long we will have to wait to see the wonderful opportunity that will be presented to us, we do know that our eyes and ears will be open and turned to God for his guidance.  We will make the best of the situation and we are strong enough, with the support of our awesome family and friends, to get through any situation.

I want to thank each and every one of you for your support and prayers through this time of change!  You all mean so much to me and every word of encouragement pushes me further towards my goals.

When seemingly devastating news comes your way, turn to God and ask your friends and family to join you in prayer and support.  Reframe the situation and force yourself to see the positives, no matter how small those positives are.  Force yourself to keep your eyes on your goals and continue along your previously determined route.  You may have been slowed down and there may be some new stumbling blocks to overcome, but you are strong enough to not allow yourself to be derailed by anything.
