If you think that you can’t do you something, you won’t! 

The moment that you eliminate “I can’t” from your vocabulary and begin to say “I will,” a whole new world of possibilities will unfold. 

If I were to listen to all of my wonderful friends, family, and doctors, as well as strangers, I would believe that I am AMAZING!  While I greatly appreciate the compliment, it is simply not true.  I am not amazing.  I am a real person who decided to change my view on life.  I decided to set a goal and believe that I WILL achieve that goal.  I decided to focus on the positives in my life and celebrate each and every success no matter how small. 

When someone sees my driver’s license in a store, it never fails to cause a disruption.  The lady at Kroger yesterday just kept looking from my driver’s license to my face and back.  Each time she said, “Wow!  Just wow!”  The people in line behind me started wondering what the big deal was.  Shockingly, she never told them.  (Usually, store clerks end up passing my driver’s license around and talking about the difference pretty loudly.)  I never know exactly what to say when that happens.  I don’t see the huge difference.  I don’t see a large pile of weight in my wake.  I only see the pounds scattered behind me like crumbs along my journey trail. 

I have been told that it is pretty overwhelming to think about losing a large amount of weight.  It may be… I don’t know.  I have never thought about it like that.  I set small attainable goals for myself.  I set out to lose a pound a week.  I found that in the beginning I was losing twice that much.  That was a plus, for sure!  Now I am still focused on losing one pound at a time, but sometimes, depending on what I have eaten and how much exercise I have done that week, it may take me two weeks to lose that pound.  But, I do not get discouraged with myself.  My goal is to lose that pound and I WILL lose it, whenever it happens. 

If you have children, you may know about the Kandoo wipes.  They are flushable wipes that children can use when they use the potty.  We bought some for Drew this weekend.  They come with stickers to use to decorate the container.  Here are the positive statements that I put on Drew’s container:


He LOVED it and spent the remainder of the day saying, “Drew CAN DO!”



I want to challenge everyone to come up with one positive mission statement about yourself that sets out a goal that you will meet.  Leave me a comment below with your statement.  I have found that there is true power in making your goals public.  The more people who know what your goals are, the more accountable you feel, and the more motivated you will be to stay on track.

If you believe that you CAN do it, you will do it!! 

(By the way, potty training is going fairly well…keep praying for us!)
