1)      My Fitness Pal – FREE app!

This application is my all-time favorite!  When you first download the application and go through the set-up steps, you enter your current measurements and your goals and then input your activity level.  Once all of this information is input, the application will calculate how many calories you need to consume in order to meet your goals.  Additionally, the phone app syncs with the website, www.myfitnesspal.com, where you can look at graphs and charts related to your fitness and healthy eating.  On the website, you can also create recipes and see accurate nutritional information for your favorite concoctions.  I use this at least 5 times a day to enter all of the food/drink that I eat throughout the day, as well as all of my exercise.  I would definitely say that this application has largely contributed to my weight loss success.  Being a numbers person and a person that thrives on the logical, I needed to be able to see in black and white the numbers that contribute to me either losing or gaining weight.

2)      Restaurant Nutrition -FREE app!

This application is extremely valuable when I go out to eat.  It contains full nutritional information on over 150 restaurants.  When I go to a restaurant, I am able to research any items from the menu that I might be interested in ordering to determine the sodium, calorie, and fat content.  This application has been a lifesaver when it comes to sodium.  So many restaurants load their food with salt.  Without this application, I would be not be able to tell, before ordering, which items contain a high amount of sodium or calories. 

3)      Fooducate – FREE app!

This application was recommended to me.  I downloaded it and found that it has some pretty interesting information and would have been very valuable to me when I started my journey and had very little food knowledge.  I would suggest that you use this application when you go to the grocery store before you decide to purchase an item.  Besides comparing the information on the Nutritional Label with other brands and similar products, you can also get the advice of this app and make a more informed decision.
